The stories from people in the Barents area will meet in the digital exhibition room. But how? We will try to find a method to create understanding for different perspectives on history and present . Maybe we can find common denominators? For example when a unaccompanied refrugee gets integrated can historical objects/phenomena be common or different? Every history must be treated equally. In a “hot spot” area will burning topics be allowed to be published and related to historical layers.
Barents
Barents area shares several features: natural resources have favored contacts since prehistory. Nationalization and modernization have affected all inhabitants, particularly indigenous peoples. One consequence is selective understandings of history, depending on life histories and political agendas. Last decade, the area has gained self-esteem in a global context, from national peripheries to global centers of IT infrastructure and tourism, corresponding with a reconsideration of history.
Norrbottens museum wants to create an innovative platform for dialogue - a place for meetings and exhibitions - integrated with social media, where stakeholders in the Barents area through meeting the diversity of history can get perspective of their present. The project promotes an understanding for the diverse present and past through exhibiting practices and relationships that transgresses present borders of geography and identity.

The target group are a wide group of ages and national origin. We will focus on finding unaccompanied refrugees since we belive that their stories will reveal knowledge about our cultural history, attitudes and what it really means to become/be integrated in the northern sphere of Europe.
The innovation lies in the method of collecting and publish contemporary stories in relation to traditional historical facts. And in finding a exciting way of communicate it through a digital arena/exhibition that will be able to reach out to a wide range of people in Europe.
