Idea pitch

A 4 day camp, where high quality soft skill trainin is provided by experienced local and international trainers. The participants of this camp will be students of Riga Technical university, who, being technically educated, still lack soft skills.
There is no participation fee. The participants are provided with accommodation, food and transportation to the campsite. Majority of the daytime is filled with training sessions and discussions.

Where will your idea take place?

Latvia, a guest house near Riga

Why does Europe need your idea?

Majority of graduates still lack the abilities to present, communicate, lead a team, solve conflicts, etc. They have difficulties to find a job or start a business, although they have spent years of studying. Their knowledge is not appreciated and does not give the predicted benefits for nobody. The usual solution is to gain the soft skills by the method of trial and failure, which consumes too much time, funds and effort and it's not practical. This is why want tackle the problem at its core.

What is your impact?

Graduates which are educated in both technical and soft skills, understand how to act in different kind of situations and know how to deal with the upcoming problems by finding the right solutions in their future career. Such graduates would be able to present themselves, their company, enterprise, project, etc, thus being more successful and more competitive in the business.
To create a sharing environment, improved English level, finding new contacts.

How do you get there?

We want to create a platform-a camp where three sides - students, soft skill trainers and company representatives meet to share their knowledge about the skills needed in European work life. There will be ice-breaking tasks, team building elements, training, discussions, networking and case study.
The camp is designed with various training sessions, where students in an open and friendly atmosphere are learning theory and practice about different topics related to leadership. Students who have participated in the camp admit that the opened atmosphere and high quality training helped them to develop their ideas and dreams, give them knowledge and practical experience about team work, team leading, communication, presentation skills, and other skills demanded in business and science today.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

The direct beneficiaries are the students of Riga Technical university. However, it is difficult to predict all the winners from more educated engineers. Their employers or employees would definitely benefit as well.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Idea is easily practicable and will affect the participants instantly because it is so close and necessary to everyday life. The inquisitive atmosphere in the event, the soft skills that they will strengthen and learn about are going to reflect on the participants in the long term as well. By building an open minded platform for the students of technology we intend to open their minds to cooperation and teamwork. Our solution includes taking action today in order to improve the future.
