Idea pitch

Imp!act is a fun, inspiring and engaging workshop that empowers young people to collaborate radically and unleash their full potential. After brainstorming and team building activities, participants get involved with an organization or develop their project. Imp!act is starting to spread organically beyond Switzerland, however in order to enable exponential and high-quality scaling we aim at a fun and open-source platform that gathers our methodologies and impact evaluation system.

Why does Europe need your idea?

According to a recent European study, only 10-15% of people are actively involved in society, 15%-20% don’t care and 70% want to do something but don’t know where to start. We are tackling three main issues: 1) this lack of engagement and awareness; 2) youth unemployment as we get people to realize their infinite potential 3) lack of collaboration between organizations leading impactful youth initiatives in Europe.

What is your impact?

This platform will valorise our knowledge and share it worldwide. We want to enable people that cannot attend our trainings to organize an imp!act (coordination, facilitation, fundraising, logistics and outreach). By including our impact evaluation system, we ensure sustainability and quality of the scaling. It will trigger a multiplier effect, as the community of young changemakers will grow much faster. By end 2016, we estimate 40 imp!acts will be organized impacting 1000-2000 youth directly.

How do you get there?

This project will be co-created with volunteers from all over Europe. It will be open-source, online, interactive so that the community can exchange, multilingual, and fun-to-use. It will gather in a clear and visual way our knowledge and will include a step-by-step guide to our evaluation process. Our timeline is: 1) Jun.-Jul.: co-creation sessions with volunteers to define the contents. 2) Aug.-Sept. translation of content and inclusion of our impact evaluation process to the platform. 3) Oct.-Nov. with IT experts, impact evaluation team and volunteers, working on the format, layouts and features. 4) Dec. first pilot phase as partners abroad start organizing imp!act thanks to the support of the platform 5) Jan. to Feb. evaluation of prototype 1.0 and 2.0 version finalised.

Who are you doing it for?

We’ll shape today’s European youth or tomorrow’s citizens. Their profile diversity is central, as we believe most innovative ideas come from collaboration between different people, cultures and backgrounds. Other important stakeholders are the experts and the already engaged youths that support the unengaged participants in the construction of their project. While working closely with today’s youth, we are developing a culture of changemaking that will contribute to changing tomorrow’s world.

What makes your idea stand apart?

imp!act has been recognised for its success and social impact by e.g. Ashoka, the World Economic Forum, UNESCO and WWF. These recognitions make imp!act valuable. Another organisation would have protected the programme with copyrights. We decided to share this award winning methodology with people globally. Why? Because what truly guides our decisions is the social impact we can have by collaborating. This platform is the missing step towards sharing our methodology on a large European scale.
