Idea pitch

I Dare You to Care’s mission is to inspire, equip & mobilize students to take daring action for causes they care about most.

4 groups of students from 4 different schools across Europe will have the opportunity to discover what they care about, design a daring event, & donate 1000 eurs to a charity of their choice.

We inspire with storytelling, equip with tools on how to become a positive force through strategy, fundraising build self esteem & mobilize through collaboration, all in 5 days.

Where will your idea take place?

Europe; Germany, France, Denmark, UK (Portugal)

Why does Europe need your idea?

American researchers studied empathy in 14,000 college students over 30 yr period & sadly, students have become 40% less empathetic than 25 yrs ago. Psychological Science suggests that the best way to boost self-esteem is to forget about yourself altogether & think about others.Serious issues can overwhelm & paralyze us, we want to change that into mobilization.Empathy is a hyped topic but it needs experiential design for deeper effect.

What is your impact?

Our overall aim is to inspire change in a fun, accountable way. Success to us means, students taking accountability for their actions,strengths/talents and making an impact in their community through mobilization.

With any leftover funds from this project we will include Portugal.

If we are selected, IDYTC will be able to run as an official non-profit organization and we will be able to dedicate more time rather than random part-time efforts. We are currently volunteer our time.

How do you get there?

Collaboration is our main weapon, that is why the tools, methods and techniques we use to equip our students are from respected sources and we will assure updates. Our main objective is to finalize 4 schools or youth programs that will embrace our project. Public speaking & digital campaign will be our main method of call to action. Registering as non-profit by June 2016 will take place. Logistical planning will be a big part of the process but finished by November for March 2017 execution.

What is your story?


Who are you doing it for?

Our target group would be schools of students aged 14-24 who are in high school or college. Psychographics of these students would be; interest in learning about social change, impact, intercultural collaboration and desire to do good. Although we do not want to limit our outreach & focus on youth that want to make change. Both the school, student organizations and school board could be essential stakeholders for this project.

What makes your idea stand apart?

With over 15 years of tools & techniques that have been gathered from many different sources we believe our experiential design to our workshops offer a unique experience. We also believe collaboration is key to the success of an inclusion/educational project.

Students will be empowered with all the tools and skills required to run a successful campaign. They are fully responsible for the outcome with our guidance when needed. We found, self-esteem rises this way.

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

IDYTC team would be more than happy to receive feedback on this project. Our objective is to grow and design a toolkit for other facilitators who want to become dare ambassadors. We would love feedback on which schools you think we should target. Should the brand be trademarked? With the objective of creating a movement, what would you suggest next? Perhaps partnership with another branch? Even if this project is not accepted, we would love feedback.
