Company New Heroes
At the beginning of the 21st century we perceive that European citizens have anti-establishment feelings, technological developments like social media and artificial intelligence and migration flows put pressure on debates about borders and nations. We'll challenge ourselves to search for democracy 3.0. New forms for new problems. With an ongoing travel through Europe with an interactive multimedia play, a lecture and a growing online mediaplatform we investigate and reach as a diverse group.
Mainz, Germany. Mechelen, Oostende and Gent, Belgium. Terschelling The Netherlands.
What we want to adress is that people need to meet and find out each others ideas. Both online and offline. Break out of bubbles and looking for counterpoints and discussions. Telling these stories can create a more tangible view on what the developments and thoughts about modern European democracy.
Our project enables to gain trust in one another. It creates motivation to participate. Encounter and involvement are crucial to vital democracy. We want to restrain from abstract bureaucratic language and focus on concrete stories, initiatives and encounters to build bridges between perspectives.
n ongoing travelling interactive multimedia play, a lecture and a growing online mediaplatform. We start our research in The Netherlands and Belgium, laying the basis for the journey. After that we’ll travel through as many different European countries as possible to look how other countries are dealing with the same issues comparing them with what we have already collected from our earlier investigations. The strength of this approach is to share the visions and human not bureaucratic stories.
In 2015 Lucas De Man embarked on a journey through Europe to find young visionaries. More information about this project can be found on www.insearchofeurope.eu. It turned out to be so inspirational and necessary that we had to take it one step further, focussing on the democracy in Europe.
The insights wil be available to groups that can benefit from our investigation vary form education (researchers, high school students, students, teachers) to politics (politicians, bureaucrats, mayors, members of parliament) to civil society (voluntary organisations, debating centra NGO’s etc.)
