Wissenschaftsladen Potsdam (FABLAB)
We believe access to the means of knowledge, production and access to the resources to build your own technological solutions is the key.
Potsdam, Germany, Brandenburg, Germany
Our projects reflects a core concept of Europe: Close collaboration while enabling national solutions. Our project may serve as a pilot that later be applied in any European region. With every further partner both the new partner and the community gets stronger. Within our project with respect to access and production of knowledge and participation in a technology based knowledge society, the democracy soul of Europe becomes more alive.
We established a network that is regional enough to ensure personal contact and commitment yet broad enough to inspire new ideas due to different perspectives. We are successfull when we exchange the data of our sensor project as (example use case), when we provide each other the protypes of solutions and support each other when we explore the answers to our questions.
We believe the best way to get there is to find key partners and equip them with tools and expertise to produce the knowledge and prototypes they need.
In a pilot phase we will find 10 partner villages who we will visit with a CivInLabmobile to introduce the concepts and provide them with their own open source starter kit. For example a 3D printer-system, electronic workstation and/or a set of arduino processors. With this minimal equipment it is for instance possible to build their own sensor-stations for air quality, weather stations or discover new ways of fabrication-culture. We will invite to participate in projects we are working on and at the same time give our new partners the tools to start their own projects of interest and invite us or other networks to collaborate in return.
