Idea pitch

CampusEurope is Europe’s first and only student television network, bringing together student TVs from all over the continent to produce a truly European show. We aim to strengthen the role of the youth in our media landscape, and give a voice to Europe’s younger generations.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Although more and more people begin to identify as European, nationalism and tensions between Europe’s states are back on the agenda. One of the main reasons for this - the lack of a truly European media. Most news are still presented from purely national viewpoints, leading to a continuation of the “we-against-them” mindset which has brought so much harm to Europe over the course of history.

Especially during the current times of crisis, we need to provide Europe with a platform where issues which concern all of us can be dealt with from a truly European perspective. CampusEurope fills this gap, by helping students to look at events and issues from a broader perspective, taking into account viewpoints from different countries, thereby making them more sensitive to the problems that othe

What is your impact?

We want to become an established European media platform, which serves as a place to go for students looking for information on current happenings in Europe. Together with partners from all European countries, CampusEurope shall expand its current series of episodes, and deliver background reports as well as news. In addition, we aim to bring parts of CampusEurope’s broadcasts into television in multiple countries.

At the same time, we want to further the exchange between our affiliated student TVs, and help to increase the quality and quantity of student participation in the media landscape. Through the professionalisation of student televisions, we want to facilitate the transition to the professional broadcasting world, and help to raise a new generation of European media makers.

How do you get there?

As a next step, we will register as a non-profit, thus giving legal status to our organization. At the same time we will look for further funding, in order to attain better working equipment, increase our outreach, and become more professional.

Next to this, we want to grow our network of partner student television stations as well as authors. By doing so we aim to increase the quality of our reports, and present more issues from more places. In addition, the offer of CampusEurope shall be extended to include multiple programs and give more space for experiments for our partner TVs. Combined with clever outreach strategies, this will help to make CampusEurope more attractive, and thus further our aims of promoting a European media landscape.
