Youth Educational Forum
Just to clarify, we intent to cooperate with ARKA ( http://www.arkayouthcenter.com/) which is a branch of Code Partners, therefore we provided you with the link in the application above.
The project empowers and enables young citizens to be socially responsible and directly contribute to improving quality of life, solving local issues and constructively advocate towards institutions using art and culture as a primary tool. Youth patrollers will select public spaces suitable for urban change and trough local actions will re-purpose and make them visually more appealing. This will be beneficial to the whole community, especially young people.
Skopje; Veles; Tetovo; Struga; Bitola, Macedonia
Our main idea is promoting EU values such us tolerance, democracy, and youth engagement through art and culture among the youth in Macedonia and Albania, which are both development countries and aspiring candidate countries.
Additionally we will work on reconciliation between both countries.
A year from now, parts of the local public space will be transformed into open spaces for all citizens. Even the smallest interventions will be beneficial. The participants will be active actors for change, and will serve as an example for the community.
1. Creating 5 Art youth clubs with weekly art workshops with local artists
2. Youth club members will have patrol sessions to get familiarized with the local public space
3. Targeting spaces for interventions together with architects, peers and neighbors
4. Using the acquired knowledge for creating and realizing urban change
5. Promotion of usage of the transformed space through public events and campaigns
Given their challenges, it would not be unreasonable to call youth one of the largest marginalized groups in the country. We want to create space for young people to use art to improve their communities and take responsibility for their own role in the society.
First of all, our most important target is youth. Secondary, this project will aim towards artists, architects, and the local community.
Any kind of feedback can be of help! We encourage everyone who thinks that can freshen our idea to share it with us.
