Let’s strengthen an European network of civil society groups and initiatives dealing with resilience and energy transition. Let´s share practices of economy and living towards a society beyond growth. Let’s exchange visions that are actually lived and learn from each other. Join us!
Berlin, Germany, Athens, Greece
In today’s Europe there is a broad perception that imperatives and solutions are brought to us by institutionalised politics. More and more citizens feel disconnected from those who represent them. At the same time Germany and Greece appear as antipodal countries in a mediatised discourse that spreads the idea of a schism between indebted and financing countries in Europe, reinforcing national stereotypes. These two self-reinforcing discourses threaten democracy and Europe itself. Fortunately bottom-up approaches from these countries dealing with a transition to resilient societies couldn't be closer to each other: in values, approaches and practices. We want to give them space and empower them by networking them; thus contributing to a positive vision of Europe.
We set the seeds for a collaborating community of European civil society initiatives dealing with a transition towards a resilient economic and political system, which acknowledges ecological limits to our lifestyle and identifies common values of solidarity and cooperation. The idea of a relocalised post-fossil economy is more than just an academic concept or a vast utopia: it is actually happening. More people will have experienced the different faces of change all over Europe. The view beyond their own countries' boundaries will have inspired them to actively design social change according to their own needs. Directly involved change-makers will maintain their networking activities, sharing, learning and developing new change-making projects on an European level.
- Systematic research and partner acquisition throughout Europe, based on our existing networks in Berlin and Athens: 3 months intensive, later ongoing
- Setting up a web presence to display and connect local networks (e.g. database of projects, map, communication tool/rss stream/chat, event calendar, media); incl. description of local initiatives in English. Weekly updates
- International meetings (at least 2 in Berlin/Athen): activists get to know local ventures, projects and initiatives; networking, study visits, workshops, exchange of best practices
- Final documentary film as result of all activities: overview of projects, results of collaboration and network, ideas on how to join or start new initiatives
