STARS - Space Tourism and Analogue Research Station
Science is one of the few things that unites all countries. CERN, for instance, has put Europe in the center of the world again, not just through great science, but by reaching out to the rest of the world. We want to follow on their thread - check us out!
(MSM) Canary Islands, Spain, Location of station, European Mainland (open)
In a time of instability in Europe, Science has been one of the few things in which Europe stands united. CERN has helped to put Europe back into the imagination of the World, which didn't pass unaware even in Hollywood.
Science is the tirumph of common-sense, it belongs to all. And so should STARS. If the infrastructure is good enough, it's bound to atract interest of universities and institutions all across the World but, more important, opening it to the Public (not like a theme park, but close enough so that the experience is thrilling), will make Europe the Best in Space Simulation Missions and the First to really bring Everyone into Space Exploration. A realm which is now purely Institutional.
Cheaper than building rockets, and far more powerful for Europe as a whole.
This funding will help present a solid MSM (Mars Simulation Mission). One with real, tangible, scientific results, that can involve both the public and the private sector! This is the bedrock in which we will stand, to support future fundraising initiatives and partnerships, so that STARS Station can one day be a reality. One that EVERYONE can enjoy.
1st year) Present an MSM1 (Mars Simulation Mission 1) that had both Public and Private Funding, and provided real tangible results for both (scientific and economic). Also we want to prove that people are willing to pay a small sum to try this experience.
2nd year) Use this MSM1 to begin a fundraising campaign and start pre-designing the station and prepare MSM2. Partner with ESA.
3rd year) Make ESA and other European Space Tourism Companies part of the Association, to create a solid proposition for STARS. Make MSM3.
4th year) Achieve a partnership with an European Country to implement STARS with their support. Draft the final plans.
5th year) Initiate construction of the station, in a smaller scale, and do the first real (closed-doors) training by the end of the year.
Funding requested from Advocate Europe
How can we approach future large fundraisings and "brand embassadors"? How can we effectively prepare an european funding campaign at the institutional level or reach the desicion-makers of key companies related to the Space Industry? How do create such a project without loosing the "vision"?
