Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Imagine it's summer and you're a 16 year old living in a small town. School's out and there's probably not much to do. But then one day you're sitting outside, and you see a group of people riding bicycles inviting you to a free film screening the next day. Would you join? This is our project. To connect with rural areas by bringing the world to them through film, intercultural workshops, Erasmus +, and of course, ourselves. We would cycle from town to town encouraging youth to socially active.

Where will your idea take place?

The podkarpackie province is known for its mountains and most conservative attitude in politics.

Why does Europe need your idea?

This contact between Polish and internationals will break stereotypes they have about each other. And this in turn will help them think more critically when images of them appear on media, especially the news. We want to take the initiative and not just wait for change.

What is your impact?

In a year, we hope to see an increase of youth projects developed in their region and young people going abroad for youth exchanges, training courses and internships. Also, that there is an increase in social enterprises, ngos set up in this area promoting volunteering and non-formal education.

How do you get there?

1. To reach the most marginalized areas, we will travel by bicycle. This promotes healthy lifestyle and sustainable tourism.
2. To partner with cinemas and develop a traveling film festival.
3. To partner with town halls and schools, so that we have access to spaces and to know more about their youth needs.
4. To deliver workshops tailored to each town.
5. To encourage participants to join us and continue our journey through the region.
6. To promote youth opportunities.

What is your story?

This project has been on our minds for some time now, but we never had the resources to bring it alive. This region is often on the margins and the ones most affected are young people. So we want to show them they are capable of changing their community, and how/where they can get help.

Who are you doing it for?

We are focused on reaching as many young people as possible, both those in rural areas but also internationals living in the region. We also want to join forces with cinemas, town halls and schools in order to bring great films and workshops advocating socially involved citizens.

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

Films or materials that you have used related to the integration of internationals. Also, if you have developed this kind of project before, please let us know. We would love to hear your experiences.
