Transnational mobility has massively improved the cultural life in the EU. The cultural sector promotes intercultural dialogue and societal changes. It is challenged by current developments, from the emergence of populists to a decrease of small venues. An online film will document challenges through interviews with artists, passing by venues in Berlin, Bochum and another European metropolis, venue organizers and the audience about their own perspectives on European culture and artist mobility.
Activities will be coordinated in Hamburg, Germany. Filming will take place in Berlin and Bochum.
The EU parliament named creative sectors as forces to promote cultural dialogue, and societal changes. It acknowledges a need for promotion of transnational mobility of artists (musicians, performance artists, ...) We will document potentials of cultural mobility and the need for change.
With short online films on the opinions on transnational culture, delivered from artists for whom this is their realm of communication, we will efficiently target a young audience and increase their identification with European culture, including challenges, and support a discourse on the issue.
1. Identification of cultural venues tour managers in Berlin, Bochum and another European metropolis, and first contact.
2. Identification of potential interviewees through cooperating venues, and first contact
3. Website development and audience development on social media channels
4. Production of film episodes, including performances and interviews with artists, organizers, and audience members,
4. Post-production and online distribution
5. Public relations work
Impulses from European artists have enhanced our culture. As smaller venues are disappearing and European values are disintegrating, these advancements are threatened. We want to document the situation of artists and organizers to support the discourse on this aspect of European integration.
The idea targets young Europeans who benefited from the intercultural dialogue in Europe. For them, as consumers and producers, a lot is at stake with the disintegration of Europe. With the example of transnational mobility of artists, we want to trigger a discussion between them.
