Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Informative and inspirational pop-up exhibition & program on Commoning and Co-creation of SPORT for promoting and developing trans-local alternatives to the current industrialised sport world most often manipulated by financial interests, right-wing/nationalist and sexist/racist/chauvinist politics. In intersections of fields of culture, sports and politics, we make new alliances between creatives, critics, visionaries, commoners, fans and makers across national/language/cultural borders.

Where will your idea take place?

This is a trans-european initiative, that includes cities of partner organizations and more.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Our project deals with cultural and social reclaiming of the field of sport as one of the most dangerous and influential areas of society (especially in Europe) for identity forming and empowering right-wing organising with perpetuating conservative anchronic values among young people and adults.

What is your impact?

We would have a new tookit, media and physical presentation platform to promote positive examples of development and network them across Europe in oder to inform more people and inspire new developments.

How do you get there?

The exhibition and program will entail a traveling educational/discursive/artistic program providing for informative interactions. It will be supported by digital/print publications. By bringing together these forms, we will establish a context for stimulating critical and creative engagement for examining and interrogating sport practices and structures. Critical and creative positions are not present in the field of sport and this is both urgent and essential to make efforts to reclaim it.

What is your story?

I worked in this intersection for over 10 years and since 2016 (exhibition at and KunstraumKreuzberg/Bethaninen) my work was focused on establishing a network. This can emerge now in: Paris, Lyon, Berlin, Zagreb, Split, Glasgow and Ghent through local partners and individuals.

Who are you doing it for?

Diverse audiences - from fans at stadiums (we collaborate with KAA Gent - football club) to different communities of commoners (around http://NEST.Gent/), academics (University of Lyon), sport organizers and fans (Berlin/Glasgow) and social-cultural innovators (Split/Zagreb).

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

What is the best way to scale from idea/concept/initiative into organized transnational project? What makes sense in terms of administration, finances, but also representation to the funders and supporters?
