Scrumptious penirli with spicy Masalah chicken, accompanied by glossy Teryaki noodles and heavenly Pastitsio, are all tastes of Thessaloniki, the city where three continents meet, along with their people and their food. Let’s meet each other and let our souls speak through our kitchens!

Why does Europe need your idea?

The main idea of the festival is to address one problematic topic which nowadays is one of the main challenges in Europe, the urban segregation through a social moment . The innovative aspect is that it doesn’t victimize immigrants and foreigners but it portrays them as successful business owners and valuable members of the society, thus motivating and empowering others to follow their example. As a final product of the project there will be a leaflet and a website where the stories, the recipes and the businesses of the of the participants will be published so that the promotion of the idea continues after the end of the main event. This idea is easily transferable to other countries since it only needs cuisine!

What is your impact?

Thessaloniki is a city rich in culinary stimuli from three different continents and innumerable cultures. It is also rich in immigrants, many of which have set up their own business for many years.The aim of our project is to provide a space for dialogue, for interaction, socializing between groups who are not usually spending their free time together. The longevity of the project will be ensured by the creation of an interactive website that will promote the culinary businesses of foreigners and immigrants.

How do you get there?

-Perform research and contact-making with all foreign cuisine/ immigrant comunities and restaurant owners.
-Create interactive map in collaboration with Steki Metanaston ( local refugees center) with their businesses, personal stories, most famous recipes and backgrounds
-Organise a three-day event by selecting the movies, coordinating the participants, promoting the event through other local organisations.Every day a different culture will be portrayed through movie screenings and cooking presentations. Also the attendants will have the opportunity to meet foreign cooks personally and share their stories, thus taking them out of the limiting owner-client relationship.
-Disseminate results through a video and a short report with the overall experience
