Learning from Ecovillage Solutions to Address European Poverty and Design Future Sustainable Communities
Skopje, Macedonia, Sofia, Bulgaria
Europe lacks a clear policy to meet Romani people where they are. The policy has been integration through assimilation which has continuously been resisted and failed. The Romani people are proud of their rich culture which they have maintained in Europe for eight centuries. A Europe of diversity has room for Romani dreams which this project hopes to document. The inability to find a harmonious means of cohabitation between dominant and Romani cultures extends to all countries of Europe. The ideas hatched by this project will be on offer to all countries of Europe.
The project would cause us to find practical ways to use existing ecovillage methods and technologies to help people in need. We would certainly be able to deliver practical knowledge of functioning solutions to improve the lives of a number of families in underprivledged neighbourhoods of the participants. The youth selected would both be offering new innovations to help the community but as well asking questions about the culture, traditions and dreams of the people. A clear report or project proposal for a model village would be the successful result of this project. I hope the main difference that both the innovations and the report would make is a feeling in the effected communities that we respect each other and we are trying to find a better solution to today's poverty together.

I am interested to recieve ideas and tips how we can work to address poverty in Europe while building a sustainable society. Maybe you know of other resources or NGOs that want to work with this theme?
