Provision of health care facilities and the extent of their utilization is one of the indices of human development. Children from low socio-economic families exhibit significant levels of decay, experience limited access to care, often lack transportation and have high “no show” rates. Our initiative aims providing access to a basic human right: dental healthcare for people in poor urban and remote rural areas.
Mobile dental clinics provide an innovative solution to providing dental care.
Romania - poor rural areas.
The link between democracy and health can be viewed through two aspects of freedom: opportunity (public policy’s impact on individuals’ capability to avoid premature mortality, starvation, etc), process (participation in political decisions). Health is an intrinsically valued end of development.
We measure the number of mobile units we create, people we reach and the progress with the law for mobile healthcare. We create the framework for mobile health system for underprivileged people in a process which uses a democratic approach in the cooperation process with the authorities.
In our process, we plan to create the legislation for the functioning of mobile healthcare units, followed by discussions with the Ministry of Health and Finances to recognize this mobile units as eligible in the process of receiving monthly funds for free basic healthcare for all citizens. Simultaneously we raise funds (at least 5 years) to create a network of 41 mobile dental units to serve the entire country. We want to provide a best practice example of synergy between democracy and health.
Children and their development are our main mission. We want to show that a private initiative for the good of the community can be done, without corruption or other preferential circumstances. We hope to empower others to dare in their clean initiatives for the well being of the country.
In particular for people from poor urban areas and remote rural areas.
In general, for all Romanian people who lost hope this year, with the current political game, to empower them to understand that normal citizens like you and me can make a change for the greater good.
We want to write a paper about why Mobile healthcare units are the solution for remote rural communities and why the governments should start thinking deeper on such systems. Is there anyone interested in contributing to this paper? If so, please email me at email@example.com
