Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Do the Millennials spend all their time eating avocado toasts? No. Do they participate in the social and political life? Some of them. With this series of radio documentaries and podcasts we aim to investigate different ways how the young generation gets involved in political initiatives and civic society. We want to focus on different political views, discuss youth radicalisation, involvement of young women, youth from minority groups, but also cases of resignation on civic participation.

Where will your idea take place?

Erfurt, Germany
Tbilisi, Georgia
Brno, Czech republic
Paris, France

Why does Europe need your idea?

We want to overcome usual filter bubbles and interview different young people and ask them how they are taking the stage as future decision makers, leaders and citizens. Where do they see their countries going in the turbulent times of economical and political instability, populism, radicalisation?

What is your impact?

We will produce a series of radio documentaries, broadcast them and publish them as podcast on an online platform, where other producers can contribute with similar stories. The stories will help to understand the challenges of youth and inspire the peers to participate in democratic society.

How do you get there?

1.Meeting of the production team - setting the dramaturgy, technical standards, identifying the specific themes, planning the broadcasting, creating an online platform
2.Production - Producing radio documentaries (10/country)
(August 2018 - June 2019)
3.Editorial meeting - Consulting the process, the outcomes, promotion
4.Broadcasting of the radio documentaries in the local radio stations
5.Promoting the on-line platform and podcast, inviting other producers to contribute

What is your story?

We are journalists, youth workers and radio lovers, striving to give voice to young people and make their voice to be heard by the stakeholders and wide public. Only through a good understanding of the situation and challenges of youth the society can react and provide adequate support.

Who are you doing it for?

Young people - to be heard and to get inspired. Stakeholders (teachers, youth workers, politicians) and wide public to understand the challenges, such as radicalisation, social exclusion, economical difficulties, traditions that young people face when becoming active members of democratic societies.
