With his first documentary DUST the director spent few days in the Insitut for Mentally ill in Torino, Italy where 8 mentally and physically disabled people share with us their similiar and drastically individual stories: they have been forgotten by society, by their familiars and even by themselves. This past work, 20 minutes length, has been selected to different international festivals (Turin, Minsk, UNESCO New Dehli)and now we'd like to produce the long feature documentary "A private movie".
After the good success of the short documentary we would like to work together again with these eight people. Through a new theatrical activity, starting from "The Cherry Orchard" by Checkov, this time we want to tell deeper about them. We want to follow they lives closer and to realise an importante documentary about disability and freedom.
With a stunning visual language we find a way to tell about disability. By watching them as actors on stage, viewer explores their lives and their stories without pity or commiseration. "Explores them as survivors - survivors of an old age, who perform the play of life - the desired life instead of the real one - through the theatre."
Through "A private movie" we want to involve the audience, showing all the colours and the possibilities inside an illness. Many people and institutions collaborated with us and they are ready to restart. We brought our first documentary to Berlinale and we are proud to produce this new challenge for a wider and wider audience.
We are writing the screenplay and, at the moment, working for involving people and finding money.
We are thinking about projections and conferences about disability together. The power of this movie together with competence of experts about disability.
