Idea pitch

Facing a non adapted and blind cultural labour market, our main goal is to permit young cultural professionals to experiment and create by themselves their own ideas to find processes to achieve projects and rescale, transform and relocate them into other contexts, other countries, other necessities. We want to create new and sustainable perspectives, throughout exchanging methods and mutual aid.

Why does Europe need your idea?

As we see it, there are two tensions going into opposite directions in Europe: youth has never been as mobile and, in a way, european. On the other hand, the political and economical situation creates frustration, precarity, and defiance towards a system that does not provide adapted answers. Fugitif mainly addresses to young european cultural actors, proposing an alternative base to create their own experience and to put their skills to use in service of common development.

What is your impact?

The big picture is to give a proper answer to a much larger modern problem: what can Europe do for its young professionals, and what can they do for Europe?To create an international network of platforms based on relative autonomy and chosen inter-dependance. If selected, this cultural platform will expand and level up their already existing exchanges between two countries (France and Germany) and reach out to all countries in Europe and maybe even beyond.

How do you get there?

Over the last years, we have developed in the city of Leipzig (through the development of artists residencies, the building of a resource center and gathering point of cultural actors of Leipzig) and abroad (with the creation of an international network platform, Resonances Network, compiling the needs, answers and competences of more than ten German and French collectives) a cultural and economical prototype that has now reached its autonomy. We are ready and willing to expand it to new borders and new perspectives that we want to support with our experience.

In an extended way, people willing to develop new systems for other or parallel fields, and that could enjoy the technical and theoretical progresses that will be made by our platform, and communicated as a common good.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Few people think about the gap that exists in the transition state, for example the after school struggling to enter a career. We concentrate on the possibilities for the unexperienced, and how to keep the energy and involvement in experimenting. Established systems focus more on fixed situation, whereas in our case we put an emphasis on being in between. We are creating a space to walk out of the conventional paths, a space to grasp a notion of liberty.
