Empower Youth and Celebrate Empathy and Engagement! Catalyst and MTV Adria propose engaging young people to develop, plan and give to community-based projects while expanding the storytelling about what happens when young people come together over a common cause...we will document how these young people engage and what they leverage from their communities and viewers around the region. Because youth in that community over there, well, at the end of the day, they are JUST LIKE ME!

Youth have the opportunity to make a difference in their communities, but so often lack opportunities to engage in a meaningful way, to show empathy and to demonstrate their creativity and energy to help others do something they wouldn't able to achieve on their own. Fostering a culture of philanthropy among youth can build stronger communities, closer-knit regions and a better Europe.
A successful outcome includes 12 community projects developed/championed by youth philanthropists serving as fundraisers in their community, the broadcast of their stories on MTV Adria with a clear call for donations to viewers across 4 countries (2 million households), more than 50,000 EUR raised for the 12 projects, an increase in the confidence of youth philanthropists to engage their communities, and an improved public understanding of successful youth-driven philanthropy
In partnership with MTV Adria, a region-wide competition will be held to identify 12 young people across 4 countries who are committed to working with their community to raise funds for a particular cause. Catalyst Balkans will provide mentoring and support to developing their fundraising campaign and message. MTV Adria will produce and broadcast 5-7 minute vignettes that talk about the cause and provide each selected young person with the opportunity to pitch their cause. SMS and online donation will allow viewers to donate to the causes, while each youth champion will also be working to raise money within their community through local businesses, holding events, etc. The 90 day campaign will use intensive media to raise money, and then to follow up on the campaign successes.
Several levels of target groups:
1) The beneficiaries of the 12 projects for which money will be raised
2) The 12 selected youth and the teams they have built around them as they engage in their community and practice empathy and philanthropy.
3) The 1000s of young people viewing the vignettes and who are inspired to do something meaningful in their communities and who themselves give to the projects within the campaign.
Both Catalyst and MTV Adria are uniquely positioned with their skill sets and audience to promote and facilitate youth-driven philanthropy and to promote the unity that can result from philanthropic efforts, both in the community and across borders and ethnicities.
