Currently the network participating in the project include 17 organizations, sport clubs, private companies, and local authorities from 13 European countries. We continue our search for more organizations in order to reach at least 30 European countries.

Idea pitch

The European Proactivity Week is a special week of events organized by civil society organizations, informal groups, interest clubs, associations, dedicated to the celebration of proactivity, voluntary work, civic participation, personal development, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and simply working for others. The week aims to show that no matter what we do, it is done not only for ourselves but also for others. The motto of the action is ‘What do YOU do for others?’

Where will your idea take place?

Brussels, Belgium and at least 100 other locations in at least 30 countries

Why does Europe need your idea?

According to Civic Engagement Index prepared by Gallup Institute, the Europeans countries suffer from low civic participation of its citizens. Surprisingly, the level of people donating funds to social causes, participating in voluntary work, or engaging in helping others is much lower in Europe than in developing countries. The EPW aims at changing this situation by raising awareness about existing environments, opportunities for funding, and chances for cooperation among sectors.

What is your impact?

In the short term: the launching event in Brussels as the First Proactivity Capital, 300 other initiatives in at least 15 European countries with a total of 30,000 participants. Significant presence on social media platforms with at least 100,000 likes, as well as hundreds of posts, photos and short movies. Medium term: engage major European TVs for increasing its reach. In the long run, the aim is to establish an annual event promoting civic participation proactivity, and personal development.

How do you get there?

After initial meeting with all partner organisations from 30 European countries YouthProAktiv will be responsible for supervision of the project especially launching the on-line recruitment of local coordinators of Proactivity Week. These coordinators representing different networks will be responsible for coordination of particular activity at the town level. These activities may include a conference, a concert, social action, volunteering, etc. After selection, all events will be registered with a single software and branding. Simultaneously, we will also invite the European institutions and civil society networks for all age, social, economic and interest groups. The entire action will be also carried out on-lone with all social media networks for greater dissemination

Who are you doing it for?

The project is open to all proactive individuals who consider their work as a contribution for others. In order to achieve the broadest reach, we will invite various European networks representing particular interest groups and social groups to join the project.The main target audience are people of all ages and social status. They will also be the main beneficiaries of the project, since they will have a chance for getting to know the local environment, funding opportunities.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Combination of activities including meetings, conferences, concerts, social actions in Europe based on voluntary work with single branding that brings together employees with employers, young people with pensioners, sportsmen with persons with disabilities. The action will be coordinated with a single software in order to build a great network of proactive Europeans. This action will put on display the local environments of civil society organizations, entrepreneurs and informal clubs.

Personnel cost, project management cost: 60,000 EUR, travel costs, accommodation and subsistence: 10,000 EUR, marketing material and dissemination strategy and IT platform for events registration: 10,000, events organization 120,000 EUR.
