Idea Sketch | Proposal

Idea pitch

WINK FOR HELP is a campaign to design and launch a new internationally recognized body language sign.
WINK FOR HELP will be a silent SOS signal to warn authorities, that you require their assistance. The goal is to firstly apply it to aid illegal migration and its consequences, such as human trafficking and gender based violence for those being transited across Europe illegally and against their will. The WINK FOR HELP campaign will create a universal SOS sign to help curb human trafficking!

Where will your idea take place?

Presevo Serbia, Djevdjelia Macedonia, Pristina Kosovo, Tirana and Valona Alnania and Tuzla and Sarajevo in Bosnia

Why does Europe need your idea?

Migrants are highly vulnerable to exploitation and abuse, but only a few are ever identified as victims of trafficking. During their journey, they risk injury and violence at the hands of smugglers or are unable to continue their journey due to injury, illness or crimes committed against them. Criminal groups in several parts of the world have expanded their realm of activity to include kidnapping migrants in order to extort large sums of money from relatives abroad or for sexual workers.

What is your impact?

WINK FOR HELP campaign involves designing, producing and installing multi-language effective information signs at border-crossings, as well as media and advocacy campaigns, broadcasting of TV documentaries and video information messages documentaries and marking of the EU Anti trafficking day- 18 October. The objective is to raise awareness, to aid victims of human trafficking by creating a body- language signal, easy to recognize, that victims can use, silently, to alert authorities.

How do you get there?

Wink for help signboards ( 4 in each 5 countries) shall be developed and produced in several languages of ethnic communities present in the region, but also in Arabic, Dari and Pashto in order to reach potential victims of human trafficking and smuggling originating from these areas and which are coming in a growing numbers. Besides border crossings, signs would be also posted at main paths of human traffickers and smugglers in the region to be jointly identified with border police and Ministry of Interior representatives. Besides signs, on the highway passing through Balkan countries would be posted billboards to enhance message impact and reach on both citizens and migrants through Balkan. We will use as well public debates, TV documentaries & Media.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

Target groups are CSOs, national and local authorities and decision makers in the targeted countries, but the final beneficiaries are Women and children migrants victims and potential or at risk of human trafficking. Also, the responsible institutions of Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Bosnia and international organizations dealing with migration issues, especially from Germany as migrants country of destination.

What makes your idea stand apart?

WINK FOR HELP is brand new signal which will help migrants, women and children all around Europe not to become victims of human trafficking. The WINK FOR HELP campaign will create a universal SOS sign to help curb human trafficking! It is a new, unique, simple signal and the fact that it is "silent" means that it can be used easily by victims, unbeknownst to their close-by smugglers/traffickers.
