Stichting Love Foundation
We, the Love Foundation, will organize a series of three inclusive, transnational Think Tank sessions, that will build upon each other to explore and define love as a multidimensional concept based on ideas of engaged citizens from all over Europe. These definitions are to be used as ethical compass for politics and economy, inspiration and guidelines for entrepreneurial activities and re-polarization of European culture around love as uniting force of different cultures.
Amsterdam, Netherlands / Cologne, Germany/ Lisboa, Portugal
The Love Foundation believes that love is the most fundamental force in life, that unites cultures, fosters human development, and creates cultures conducive for living the good life. While being so universal, it is inexplicably underdeveloped as a concept in almost all public realms of life. Our mission is to change this, thereby spreading the universal idea of love so that it penetrates and permeates decision making structures on all levels of political, economic and cultural realities.
We will firstly develop a new theory and principles of justice based on love during the Think Tank sessions. Secondly, we will initiate and foster a European-wide discussion, through presenting our results in a multiplicity of European philosophical, political, societal and cultural magazines, a coordinated social media campaign and cultural events throughout Europe. Thirdly we explore the political, social, economic implications this theory of justice based on love will carry in every-day life.
We will organize three think tank sessions, each taking 4 to 7 days, with 25 participants each, taking place in Amsterdam, Cologne, and Lisbon. Two groups of participants will take part: 1/2 half will be chosen through an open application form that will be spread throughout the Europe-wide networks of our partner and supporter organizations, the second half chosen from qualified people within our and our partners networks who are engaged with topics of love in multidimensional manners. Professionals such as philosophy professors, social entrepreneurs, cultural innovators etc. will be invited as speakers. We will work with non-formal methods such as the Open Space and Pro Action Cafés. Results will be captured and shared in different publications in printed and online formats.
1) Our long term goal is it to inspire the political mind-sets, world-views and argumentation capabilities of European leaders through extending them with the concept of love.
2.) Spread love in everyday life of European Society through fostering a discourse about new values and creating a love-based interaction between individuals.
3.) Participants of the Think Tank will reflect their own life-approaches: They are multipliers and agenda setters of conversations in their communities and beyond
This Think Tank is part of a larger vision where 200 people throughout Europe are already working on since 2013. Our vision is a radical idea: People feel love and yet don’t put in in the center of their actions whereas many problems of the European Society could be solved easier if this was the case. We will extend the political argumentation line by adding love and depolarize debates e.g. concerning the immigration situation. There can be no real European integration without love.
