Proposal

Idea pitch

Support the leading multilingual European news and debate platform! As the refugee crisis and its mishandling by EU leaders is threatening to tear Europeans apart, jeopardising European integration and tarnishing Europe’s image abroad, we want to
build up a hub for citizens, civil society, NGOs and media outlets to share experiences, ideas and stories on the biggest challenge Europe has faced yet and bring those issues to the EU leaders and institutions.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Since the refugee crisis bursted out, Europeans are closing themselves behind more and more fences that not only keep migrants out, but are also tearing them apart. They don’t feel any more as they are part of the same project. As a result, eurosceptic and xenophobic movements whose ideas are at the opposite of Europe’s core values – tolerance, secularism, solidarity, openness, democracy – are on the rise and citizens feel they are disconnected from politics, and show distrust towards democracy.

What is your impact?

We want to build a hub for citizens, civil society, NGOs and media around the issues that matter the most and are shaping Europe’s future, and restored the ties between Europeans and between them and their governments and EU institutions.

In the wake of the next European elections, we will contribute to a more democratic and open Europe, to building a European public space and to the emerging of a European public opinion governments and EU institutions would be accountable to.

How do you get there?

Enlarging the network of partners
Establishing contacts with stakeholders
Inviting partners and stakeholders to share their content on VoxEurop and to engage with other contributors and readers
Disseminating partner’s relevant content to stakeholders
Engage stakeholders through social networks
Organising events where partners, stakeholders and citizens meet in real life
Bring stakeholders and citizens’ pleas to the attention of the media and of national politicians

What is your story?

-

Who are you doing it for?

EU citizens, especially young ones, who feel out of contact with national and EU insititutions
NGOs on human rights, migrant rights, asylum rights and equality
Volunteers on the field
Activists
MEPs and EU officials
Journalists covering EU, social, and migration issues in Europe and around the world

What makes your idea stand apart?

It's the European multilingual hub for ideas sharing and discussingn no matter the language – contents are in Czech, Dutch, German, French, English, Romanian, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian and comments are translated. With this unique tool, European citizens and stakeholders can get fresh and reliable news on issues that matter, share their views, and bring their concerns to the relevant public figures. This way, we aim at binding ties among Europeans and connect them to the EU.
