The Balkans countries continue to face many challenges and obstacles towards their final integration in the European Union. As a post conflict region there are still many issues within the countries which remain unsolved and on the other side there still exist many prejudices between these countries and also in front of the developed European countries. The main objective of this project is to try and break these stereotypes between the Balkan countries to ensure future peace building.
Serbia, Kosovo, Balkan
Having prejudices and stereotypes about other nations is one of the main obstacles for the successful European cohesion. Europe should be based on solidarity, tolerance, mutual understanding and common life of all the people. Countries in line for Europe need clear European perspective and to recognize and accept first of all some crucial values such as solidarity, equity and tolerance, respect diversity and equal opportunities
The aim of the project is to decrease prejudice about other nations in the Balkan, increase mutual understanding and respect toward each other among young people.
We will form groups of young people who will multiply their knowledge among their peers in the respective countries. These groups will participate in open forums and debates for topics such as inter cultural exchange, respect for diversity and breaking prejudices and stereotypes. Forums and discussions among young people will be combined with radio programs which youth will conduct on these topics and which will be broadcasted on a youth radio station for the Balkan, streamed on the internet, as well as with sessions with several professionals of different fields from the entire Balkan. Apart from that, young people will produce video clips which will document how they live.
The main target group will be the young people of these countries which come after a harsh conflict in the area. We believe that educating the new generation on respect for diversity, reduction of stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination, will produce a future educated and tolerant population.
The young people of the Balkan have the same desires, the same will and the same dreams as every other young people living in Europe. Working with them we can develop new life perspectives among youth which will be promoted to the youth of other neighbor countries. This will reduce prejudice among them and make establish a common sense of life based on tolerance and respect.
