Kindness is free, viral and trans-cultural. An act of kindness is inspiring daily change by touching hearts everywhere across our planet as it goes beyond any cultural, racial or geographical divides. We all know these people who bring the real positive change into our communities - be it a bus driver wishing everyone a great day or a youngster giving away homemade cookies on the street. Imagine the magnitude of the positive change if we multiply it by uniting these unsung heroes across Europe?
The campaigns and events are expected to cover over 40 cities around Europe
The project is focused on increasing social participation of young Europeans by uniting them in the mission of bringing positive social change to their local communities by pursuing real-life acts of kindness towards diverse groups within the society. By these means, we will be able to build social inclusion bridges within the society based on open, resilient and mindful communities.
We are aiming for building an international network and community of proactive and empowered young Europeans who believe that the well-being of their district, city, country and the region is in their own hands. In one year we expect to unite at least 500 people not only acting as ambassadors of the positive social change in their communities, but also tapping into the shared knowledge and experience in order to increase social well-being of people across European countries.
Our plan consists of 3 major steps: 1) identification of local heroes; 2) empowering & educating; 3) multiplying their individual effect. To foster this process, we will organize a series of cross-European projects in decentralized grassroot fashion, such as the Global Bubble Parade , to create more mindful, resilient and happy communities. Local hosts of such events will act as a source for local hero identification or nomination. Once heroes are identified, they will embark on a joint 10 week online training program equipping them with tools and real-life assignments for making positive changes in their communities. Finally, the most active heroes will be invited to the Ordinary Happiness Congress, where they would create joint actions to elevate well-being of people across Europe.
Our main focus group are young Europeans who are willing to take an active role in increasing well-being of their communities and inspiring surrounding community to follow the example. The second focus group are diverse, unrepresented, discriminated or marginalized groups within society as our projects will be focused on building bridges between different groups within society.
This project is predominantly focused on fundamental principles of positive psychology, which is an emerging way of thinking across the world to trigger positive social change. Most of social inclusion campaigns focus on preventive techniques to make sure dominant groups do less of what they do wrong. This program focuses on identifying people and actions that we do great to create better society and then making sure we do more of that.
Funding requested from Advocate Europe
Due to threefold structure of our program, there are three major expenses associated with each part. First, discovery of unsung heroes requires significant Online & Offline Marketing to reach furthest corners of Europe (10000 EUR). Second, 10 week online course requires development expenses from technical and content perspectives (7000 EUR). Thirdly, the cost of Congress organization will be dominated by traveling and event costs (15000 EUR).
Besides the project feedback, we would highly appreciate your nominations of unsung heroes who would be capable of hosting one of the upcoming project events - the Global Bubble Parade (www.bubbleparade.org)
