European Dreaming

Who is joining forces?

We are PLANNING to have more than 3 partner organizations, and we have already started contacting them, for the nature of this project is a cooperative one. We know that we can't do this all on our own, nor do we want to. But we are yet at the very beginning, so we can't name any of our future partners just now. Those partners shall cover the areas: science, politics, education, media, culture, and civil movement.

Idea pitch

Our idea is to strengthen European Cultural Identity in the hearts of people in Europe, but not only there.

Dreaming is not subject to the regulations of time and space. Still, this is where we live and where that dreaming roots, so we would like to travel all over Europe and meet and further connect the artists and the dreamers, and inspire those who are disappointed by the status quo, or plain desperate.

We want to ask: Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?

Where will your idea take place?

Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Vienna, Florence. Europe as a whole. The Ruhr area is a part of that, obviously, but there is no special focus.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Europe is perceived by many people as a spaceship from Brussels that likes to control cucumber design and that through the ESM and the ERT exerts corporate power.

This has led many into believing that full steam astern is just the answer.

We want to show that there may be more than just those two alternatives; that there’s more to Europe than corporations and nationalism. We have a common culture and history of ideas that is worth fighting and dreaming for.

What is your impact?

Our aim is to show that our cultural common ground is stronger than nationalism.

A year from now, we would have a little bit more of a European public sense. All the people that take part in this project or follow it online and offline will ideally feel more „European“ than they did before.

And we would like to have contributed to the development of political structures in addition to those of the EU.

In short: There will be more european dreamers than today.

How do you get there?

We want to travel all over Europe in small groups and meet artists, politicians, and, generally, dreamers, regardless of their origin, as long as they feel Europe is still a stronghold for human rights and culture.

To the citizens of every city we visit we would present a chiseled stone as a reminder: of the future that we dream about and of the past we share. This roots us in the cradle of civilization as well as in the Renaissance.

Regarding the political arts, „If Mayors Ruled the World“ has inspired us, so we’d also like to help build new structures in addition to those of the EU, strengthening the idea of a European Citizenship in a Kantian sense.

On our website everyone shall be able to dream along and also contribute dreams. We are open for all who feel the same about Europe.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

To be very sincere: For us. We love Europe as a home for culture and human rights and we would like to keep it and live here in peace. Since this is a dream we share with many people all over the world, it is also for all those who still believe, and even more for those who have lost the faith.

More specifically: As an audience we target those who love and perform the arts, and this includes the art of living together, of organizing society.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Our aim is to bring Europe into the hearts of the people rather than the minds. We believe that while it’s reasonable to think of it as a necessity, but we would rather focus on joy than obligation.

Instead of delivering a specific political concept that leaves space for the arts, we would „simply“ like to show Europe as a place of the arts that’s worth fighting for politically.

We’ll chisel the European Dreaming into marble that roots us in our past, artfully showing this online.
