Cultural politics and civic education are key concepts for codetermination. Yet, do we fully understand and successfully using the potentials inherent in the interfaces of both terms?
With the help of an international network-cooperation we aim to explore these intersections, defining strategies, strengthening local participation with concrete instruments. A publication makes the tools widely available, offering concrete measures for civil society activities.
Culture connects and makes Europe!
Europe as a political and cultural project falls back behind political interests of individual states. We have less access to knowledge in civic codetermination.
Culture is understood as a locally routed development asset, hence demanding mandates in decision making. But, experience based political know-how is missing.
A defined cultural politics and civic education interface supports independent networks applying necessary change management.
Europe makes culture-but does culture make Europe?
All society stakeholders are collaboratively recognized in the project working process:
- Capacity analyze & work in progress definition of the interplay of civic education and cultural politics.
- Steered discussion of both fields.
- Tool-kit, demonstrating civic education creating cultural codetermination.
- Measures, effectively using the capacity.
- Established network of cultural politics and civic education.
- Democratic knowledge transfer at the core of European culture.
Organizing parallel workshops for Europeans engaged in cultural politics and civic education. Monitoring journalists will describe and publish the process.

Experts (culture, politics, administration) creating the conditions for political and cultural determination and realizing it on local, regional and national level.
Engaged people lacking tools and networks.
This project elaborates the importance of cultural politics, and promotes European cohesion and codetermination. Codetermination – not the unilateral participation – empowers us to create in Europe a common political space. Redefining cultural politics, rooted in civil society and culture, initiates cultural politics as bottom up force. We follow the idea to act transnational and foster Europe at its cultural core.

We would be happy to hear about examples from your practice: 1. Where can we find successfully used cultural politics and civic education examples? 2. Do you know best practices for this linkage in independent cultural scenes (in Europe and abroad). 3. Do you know initiatives, which should be invited to participate in our meetings and workshops?
