The project aims to help the people who want to challenge problems in their community/environment. Through weekend workshops it shows them the way how to participate more in the public sector and educate them in european identity topics. It gives them skills, knowledge and contacts they need to support the european values and priorities and the forms of their promotion on the local level. It supports the european identity through sharing of ideas and experience between Czech and Slovak NGOs.

The project aims to passivity of some young people who have a potential to actively participate in public sector. This people often want to change something in the society or their neighbourhood, but they don´t know how and where to start. There is a negative trend of unfolding hate culture in our countries (again minorities, refugees etc.) on both local and political level. We want to support the people in promoting european values as democracy and hate-free culture as a prevention of this.
The School of Citizen´s Initiative aims to help the people who want to challenge problems in their community or in their environment on local, state or european level. It shows them the way how to participate more in the public sector: to be active citizens. The outcome would be if about 40-50 people will go through 8 seminars and they will be able to start their own projects solving identified problems on local level or get involved in some bigger project which is currently running.
There will be a series of 4 Czech and 4 Slovak weekend seminars, 15 - 25 participants each. The basic themes will include planning and leading the campaign, media work, promotion of activities, fundraising, volunteer work and strategical planning and also topics as humanism, human rights, participation, democracy and european identity and responsibility. It will show all the different ways how to get involved (volunteering, education of public,“watch dog“ activities). The participants crete their own project during the seminars. We offer the microgrants to the best projects. We will organise 1 czech and slovak weekend focused on experience sharing between the lecturers (experts) and participants. We will discuss our methodology, way how to motivate people and share best practices.
The target group of this project are the people around NGO´s in the Czech Republic and Slovakia: individual activists, volunteers and employers of non-governmental organizations, local opinion makers and people who are involved or the are planning to be involved in NGOs. These are mostly young people, but is not rare that some participants are around 50 years old. The expected direct impact of this program would be 40-50 participants, indirect (through propagation) more than 10.000 people.
We do not teach the participants in the formal way but we create a space for an exchange of ideas and experience and work together in small groups. Participants usually choose the real problems of their everyday life to work on during the project. The unique is also experience of our lecturers, who work on similar projects in countries like Ukraine, Georgia or Caucasus. Through this activities they advocate european values and support local activist in promoting systemic change

We would appreciate some tips for adressing new potential participants (which groups out of our usual network to choose etc.) and how to motivate the participants to finish whole project. We are interested in the experience with the social acceptance of the similar projects, how to promote and medialize them. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia happens that the participant´s environment see their involvement in such a project as some kind of stigma and we would like to change it.
