House of Yezidies of Georgia
Eduhub and its educational activities will help activate youth, women and other social groups to make connections between each other, be more visible in Georgia and connect with youth and other communities in European countries. By being united and leading by the example in Georgia as well as in Europe, represent their culture and diversity, as well as advocate for the positive changes and European values. In a nutshell “think global act local, we are all Europeans, multiculturalism 2.0”.
Minorities in Georgia (Yezidis, Assyrians, Armenians, Roma,Ukrainians, Russians and others) and especially youth as well as women of ethnic minorities are largely neglected. They are often subjected to and fall victims of the stereotypes and prejudices deeply embedded in the Georgian as well as European societies at the various levels. This situation is harmful not only for the groups themselves but for the society in general, leading to increase a level of xenophobia and nationalistic rhetoric.
Our team of EdUhub will focus on work with young people and women from different parts of Georgia and by our activities we will contribute to: - raising awareness about rights of citizens in Europe , improve their skills and deepen the knowledge, encourage all participants to learn more about Europe and Georgia, share among each other in Georgia as well as in Europe their cultural heritage, traditions and values.
By establishing EdUhub as friendly place where people from Georgia’s many different cultures can get together and work, share and learn in a safe and supportive environment. We will partner with a number of organisations from Georgia as well as from EU and EU neighbourhood to set up the joint activities such as: 1.opening EdUhub “library and readers café” with wide range of literature about European history, culture, civic movements, different religions etc. 2.organizing EdUhub workshops (traditional art craft, manufacture, animations etc. ) 3.conducting public educational events in EdUhub 4. “My Europe” contest (short story, poem, photo or film production, painting),selecting 6 best works with prize of participating in European trip to Europe (3) and Georgia (3)
Active Europeans without focus on their citizenship, race or gender, age of 15 - 35.
Our idea is based on “think global, act local” approach. We would like to help connect different minorities groups in Georgia, strengthen cooperation between each other, learn about Europe, share their heritage and cultural traditions and then together build new bridges with other groups in Europe and prove that only connected and united we can contribute to better future of Europe.
