Anti-European sentiments are spreading across Europe this is a tendency we owe to reverse. We want to build a website to share information about great pan-European projects and foster more cross-borders initiatives that have a constructive impact on our societies and will forge a stronger European identity. Many initiatives tend to vanish because of lack of support. We want to be the backbone structure that will provide the network, knowledge and tools they need to sustain their activities.
Catastrophic narratives work to further alienate people from taking part or believing in a positive Europe. Yet, there are so many untold stories/ pan-European grassroots projects that do not feature in the mainstream media. We need to hear about them and be inspired by them. These projects often suffer from lack of back office support to thrive and influence beyond national borders. We want to provide a platform where to maximise opportunities and positive impacts.
Our aim is to build a website that will provide a forum for disseminating positive narratives, best practices coming from extraordinary pan-European projects, working as a platform for new ideas and partnerships between projects to flourish.
These initiatives would greatly benefit from a virtual Programme Management Centre such as +Europa providing sound knowledge base, tools, contacts, and a core team to develop, sustain and expand their activities.
First we will design and set up the website. In parallel, we will start researching and selecting projects, documenting best practices for promotion on our website. Understanding the challenges people face at the different stages of their project will allow us to brainstorm solutions and create tools to help. We will develop a strong communication strategy to reach out to as many people as we can, using social networks, attending key events across Europe. One of our key objectives is to create a strong network of support. We also aim to provide project management services for a pilot project: ‘MamaHelp-Mobil’ supporting refugees in West-Turkey (in partnership with German Alliance). Finally, we will look for further funding to establish a core team of experts and sustain our activities.
We want to inspire and support people who wish to promote our European values through projects. We want to become the ‘virtual’ place where people can obtain help to launch and sustain their initiatives as well as find partnerships to overcome frequent barriers.
But beyond this, we want to reach out for those who have lost hope and give them the opportunity to hear about positive initiatives ran by people who refuse to buy-in to the defeatist discourse that Europe is ‘doomed’.
There is no initiative such as this one, offering targeted project management tools and a wider range of expert support to small, people-led pan-European initiatives across various stages of the project life cycle (e.g. from a simple concept to the implementation phase). Our aim is to ensure that people are inspired, come up with ideas, and receive adequate assistance to thrive. This platform will show the positive impacts people can have on the construction of Europe.
Funding requested from Advocate Europe
To implement the first phase of our project: Project team/personnel costs: 28 800 Euros; Website promotion and networking: 5000 Euros; Service contracts (website infrastructure, consultants, professional translation, project software etc.): 14 200 Euros; gUG set-up and running cost for a year: 2000 Euros (legal and tax advisor fees).
