Newly arrived persons and refugees, together with the local population in Europe, shall identify opportunities for cooperation leading to new social businesses and a higher quality of life for everyone involved. The Our Common Future participation platform shall enable this exchange together with partners in various European countries. The resulting innovative and powerful social business ideas will be presented in short movies in order to inspire young entrepreneurs all over Europe and beyond.
Germany, Greece, Italy, Austria, Luxembourg, and more European countries
The project aims to address two main challenges: the integration of newly arrived migrants in Europe on the one hand and the creation of new job opportunities for young people in Europe on the other. Intergenerational cooperation, social entrepreneurship, and intercultural communication are three more challenges the project aims to take up in order to create new opportunities for all and foster social cohesion.
Our Common Future aims to bring together newly arrived migrants and young Europeans in order to help them identify new job opportunities based on cooperation which foster both the integration of newly arrived persons in Europe and the integration of young people on the labour market. The most promising ideas shall be presented in short movies and inspire a large number of people all over Europe and beyond create their own social businesses while fostering social inclusion.
First, workshops uniting newly arrived migrants, refugees, local youth, intercultural communication experts, policy makers, and youth workers, shall help to identify opportunities for cooperation between newly arrived persons in Europe and the local population. These workshops shall be organised in at least 5 different countries, including Germany, Greece, and Italy. Together with professional film-makers, video footage documenting the ideas generated shall be gathered, including interviews. The most active persons who helped to generate the most promising ideas will then be invited to one city where they will have the opportunity to plan the implementation together with experienced entrepreneurs. Short videos produced shall help them to pitch their ideas to more sponsors and supporters.
The main target groups of our project are newly arrived migrants and refugees as well as young people in Europe eager to promote job creation or work in unconventional and challenging ways. As stakeholders, we also involve intercultural communication experts, youth workers, social entrepreneurs, as well as local, regional and EU authorities. We further seek cooperation with schools, universities, and entrepreneurial hubs, where the short movies produced can inspire more young people.
The project’s uniqueness lies in blending democratic participation, intercultural communication, film-making, and social entrepreneurship. Different social communities which normally operate in parallel worlds shall be brought together in order to inspire each other and strive for a common goal in cross-pollination. The output of the project will be tangible and helpful to many Europeans, as new social businesses will emerge that will help to foster social and professional integration of all.
