Chance - Bildung, Jugend und Sport gGmbH
„With which innovative approaches we can reach young people with fewer opportunities and make for them attractive the many potentials and offers of Europe?“. 10 students from different disciplines (architectors, urban developers, economists, educators, psychologists, social workers, computer scientists, engineers, designers, artists etc.) from different countries will come to Berlin and pracitcally deal with this question, using the methods of Design Thinking.
CHANCE BJS gGmbH is active in the field of noon-formal education and international youth work. Our own direct experience shows us that young people with fewer opporunities including children of migrants and refugees are often hard to reach and to get involved into the processes of participation. With our project we want to support them and to look for new unconventional ways of getting them interested in european issues and help them to become active citizens of Europe.
We aim to create innovative civic projects, which live european values and see young people with fewer opportunities, young people who are hard to reach as the main target group. The developed ideas must be implemented within the project time without high expenses and the main power source of the projects should be the engagement of the civil society. These ones can be: creativ artistic actions, project with direct l impact on the local community etc.
The projects participants will be choosen within the open call apllication. In an essay they will be asked to present their ideas on: how to reach disadvantaged youth and to deepen practically its european awereness. We will select 10 experts whose projects meet these criteria: strong commitment to the idea; short-term impementation; sustainability; based on the sivic engagement. First the experts will come into dialogue with young people to eliminate their needs etc. Secondly they will work together, using the results of their exchange with young people. Supervised by the professional coach, they will develop and communicate their ideas with the help of the Design Thinking method. The best project ideas will be implemented in the home countries of participants right after their return.
The main target group of the project is youth. We initiate a dialogue with active young people and also involve youth which needs support. Both groups should learn from each and benefit from this dialogue. We use our diversity and otherness as a broadening of horizons and thus utilize innovative creative methods.
The project involves students from 10 countries and 10 different disciplines working on a European problem. They develop their own ideas which they will use for youth promotion. The Design Thinking method will be used as a working method that encourages a creative innovative approach. We see diversity as an enrichment and use it to reveal the results of this diversity.
