Idea Sketch | Proposal

Idea pitch

We want to build a non capitalistic economic system based on Sharing and mutual support, that will prove to be better than the capitalistic one. Our dream: that those who believe in collaborating and sharing will say: "I do this everyday! I'm an artisan, I'm a freelancer and I can live from the work I love." To do that, we are building an Invisible European Factory made of heterogeneous people traveling and working together, that can be activated by pressing the button on the EleKtronic Window.

Where will your idea take place?

Bottrop, Potsdam

Why does Europe need your idea?

We want to set up a non-capitalistic Economic System. Collaborative Economy can spread as an economic system only if collaboration becomes something structured. Sharing Economy is a theoretical platform in which we can imagine models and original methods to produce and work. In order to become structural it needs to set up new instruments and tools. Shared working spaces (as FabLabs; makerspaces; Comanufacturing Spaces), that are flexible and open, offer the chance to try and test them.

What is your impact?

An organized System of Shared Workspaces which can work together as a single huge transnational entity, capable to develop complex products and to operate on an industrial scale, but regulated by non-capitalist horizontal relations between peers.
Now, people working in these spaces do similar things, on a small scale. Their products are sustainable and nice, but limited by skills, tools, knowledge. Imagine they could work together, as a huge team, based on sharing and Circular Economy.

How do you get there?

A- THE ELEKTRONIC WINDOW: Talking and exchanging is the first step. Just imagine a window through the wall. You just go to the coffee-break area, or to the café, and you can see other people from another space, talk to them, exchange ideas, give and get suggestions on what you're doing. You can start business relationships as well. With the electronic window, you can easily interact with people you never met before but who belong to physical shared spaces with a similar attitude.
B- THE FREE EXCHANGE PROGRAM: Visiting and traveling should be an everyday practice. The Free Exchange Program allows members of single spaces to go to work into other spaces into the network FOR FREE! And they’re not just “desks in a coworking space”, but they are “your workplace, you can feel at home”.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

Everybody will be part of the project as a critical consumer. Producers will be self-employed people, like Free Lancers and people in practical professions, like artisans and Makers belonging to shared work spaces. Our idea fosters integration and cross contamination between people with different backgrounds. We imagine a new, cross social class, made of different people who believe that diversity and sharing are valuable assets to develop their ideas and projects.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Most of "Open Workshops" do not question the Capitalistic System. People usually work for traditional, capitalistic companies and then spend some time in open workshops to make personal projects. Our idea is to build a new system based on people who make a job out of their passions, starting from a real need: to work. Together, they will be part of a European structure of non-capitalistic companies (artisans, freelancers, professionals, SMEs) capable to compete with huge capitalistic companies.
