Proposal

Idea pitch

Unleash the potential of young unemployed people by enabling them to deal with negative emotions created by the « black hole of unemployment » (loss of self-confidence and self-esteem, social isolation, feeling of uselessness, loss of motivation and ambition, high stress, despair …). Thanks to innovative workshops, supportive local communities and an online collaborative app, unemployment becomes an opportunity for self-empowerment and creation of social links for young European.

Where will your idea take place?

France, The Netherlands and Romania

Why does Europe need your idea?

Negative emotions are documented by researchers as one of the first break to re-enter the job market as it decrease unemployed people's network and it reduces their energy, motivation and confidence in others. At the end it undermines unemployed people's employability and take them away from job opportunities. At the same time what makes the difference between two candidates and what will be key skills in the future are soft skills such as self-confidence, team work, adaptability, creativity...

What is your impact?

By creating empowering offline and online communities of unemployed people, we want to : reduce the negative consequences of unemployment by helping people change their mind and find inside them ressources to fight the negative feelings; raise awareness about the importance of investing time and energy in developing soft skills;
These communities will crowdsource the best local practises (training opportunities, job/network events..)and share online the best global tools (mindset, content..)

How do you get there?

1.The 3leading organisations organize 1workshop each for 7Social Entrepreneurs (SE) working with unemployed people = 21SE benefit from the workshop.
2.Two-days training in each country of the leading organisations to teach the 21SE working with unemployed people how to run and teach the workshop.
3.The 21SE run 2 workshops each for 7unemployed people they are working with = 294 unemployed young people benefit from the workshop
4.During the workshops we collect the first datas for the beta-version of the online app
5.The 21SE teach 100 unemployed people how to run the workshop : 700 more unemployed benefit from the empowering workshops
6.Launch of the online collaborative app fed by the local communities of unemployed people and the European network of SE.

What is your story?

-

Who are you doing it for?

The social entrepreneurs working with young unemployed people to increase their social impact and source the beneficiairies. And most of all to empower young unemployed people so that they can use their unemployment time as an opportunity to strengthen their mental well-being, develop new soft skills, increase their network and create personal projects.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Our community culture makes people aware about the fact that they are not only helped, they are also helpers and useful for others by crowdsourcing and sharing their best practises. This culture makes people confident enough to take initiatives and learn some new soft skills by creating/helping projects and animating workshops themselves + the mix between online and offline support + the workshops are adapted to the specific needs of the group.
