Idea pitch

We would like to build Georgia with and for children. Our Project aims to strengthen protection of children’s rights and raise awareness about their problems. Every day children become victims of violence in their schools and families in the whole region of EaP. We intend to create manual “Peace-Building Programs in Schools”, consult parents and school staff and arrange round-table with Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian Youth Workers to share knowledge about peace-building in schools in EaP.

Where will your idea take place?

Tbilisi, Georgia

Why does Europe need your idea?

Latest researches show that 80% of Georgian children have been victims of one of the types of violence. Researches of the Unicef Georgia (2013), stated that 60% of teachers, social workers and school supervisors have had no knowledge how to react in case of violence against children. There is almost the same situation in Ukraine, Azerbaijan and other EaP region countries. Our challenge is to change Status-Quo and improve living conditions of children in Georgia and the EaP region.

What is your impact?

The Project aims to protect children from bulling and domestic violence and raise awareness of school staff and parents; To improve conditions of children for living and learning; To arrange round-table to share experience and knowledge with Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian youth workers; To establish network for children rights protection between Georgian, Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian youth workers and youth organizations and then broaden the network over the whole EaP region.

How do you get there?

Project objectives are:To create a manual of “Peace-Building Programs for Schools” for school staff; To conduct training for teachers, school supervisors and parents; To implement restorative justice programs and methods of alternative dispute resolution in schools; To give legal consultation to children, teachers and parents about violence against children; To advocate idea of violence-free childhood by using pamphlets and hotline; To arrange round-table with Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian youth workers to share experience and establish network for children rights protection; To broaden network to improve situation in the whole EaP region.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

The project primary beneficiaries are: children, their parents, school staff and schools.
The stakeholders are: Georgian, Azerbaijanian and Ukrainian youth workers and organisations.
The project affects on Georgian, Azerbaijanian and Ukrainian society, as well as Eastern Partnership region. Establishing Network for protection of children's right will decrease number of children victimization and juvenile offences and improve school climate and performance.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Our project has a long-term perspective. Restorative justice and peace-building programs are very rare in EaP region. We would rather to make schools and families better place for children by using non-violent methods of upbringing and relationship. Our project is aimed to change children’s social environment because they are the present and future of the world. This project will be one little and important step toward building EaP region, Europe and even the world for children.
