“Playing Europe” aims to interview all European prime ministers on their vision of Europe. It's them who are in the powerful position to influence national politics as well as the Union's effectiveness.
We want to do it at a time when the very idea of a Europe Union is being questioned by financial issues, the refugees crisis, nationalisms and populism, When key human rights are disrespected and key political agreements put on hold.
Is there any space left for a common, inspiring vision?

What does Europe stand for today? We want to find out by interviewing prime ministers across the Union on their vision.

1) Public engagement I: online initiative to collect citizens' support to the project and an additional question proposal - the one which is most voted for will be included in the interviews. This phase includes a website and social networking
2) Interviews with the EU prime ministers.
3) Public engagement II: All interviews to be published on a freely accessible website, including visualized data analysis to highlight priorities, convergences and differences in the prime ministers' views. Video interviews on dedicated Vimeo and Youtube channels as well
4) Television format. To be agreed with tv-partners (initial contact with ARTE)
5) Touring exhibition across Europe, subject to partner availability. Interviews on screen plus access to the online interactive platform.
Ideally it's the European citizenship as such whom we aim to target and who should benefit from our project. In order to be more effective we will focus on groups that are known to be more curious, politically engaged, digital savvy: young people (15-30) and people in their 45-60s.
The project is articulated to engage citizenship throughout its development and final delivery (online platform, tv-format, exhibition)
There is an effort to promote Europe in media spaces, by fostering knowledge of EU activities in EU countries. But in our knowledge there are no meaningful ongoing projects addressing the issue of Europe as a political idea based on common values and priorities, by interviewing its leadership in a systematic and structured way.
