Idea pitch

With “Breaking language barriers” we would use web based technologies to spread knowledge on intercultural learning, to create an direct exchange between educators in Europe on best practice and to provide schools with multimedia and fun to use learning materials.

Why does Europe need your idea?

German Education Union (GEW) expects around 400.000 minor refugees arriving to Germany at 2016. In the same moment the Union acknowledges lack of educators being prepared to teach German as a Foreign Language( GFL) and to integrate refugees in to the school community. https://goo.gl/Sjl6ws Educators search online for learning materials and concepts, to support their students und have big difficulties with finding and integrating those in their teaching praxis.

What is your impact?

We are using web technologies to help educators and schools to exchange their best practice, to find and to adopted interesting didactical materials, so minor refugees will be able to visit regular school classes as soon as possible, instead of being in a special “Welcome Classes” for too long.
Support from “advocating Europe” will allow us to enlarge our didactical material pool and to provide minor refugees and their educators with best practice for learning German.

How do you get there?

Beta – Version of lernox has already about 200 materials – videos, games, working sheets – which covers such a basic issuers as “Family and Friends”, “Nature” and “School”. Our goal is to cover a curricula for primary and secondary school. Our next steps are:
1.Didactic: to win more didactical partners and Master Teachers to curate and to publish great online materials and teaching concepts.
2.Diversity: focusing on different media formats and teaching concepts.
3.Sharing: Creating competition on innovative class concepts with refugees.
4.Technology: Creating collaborative user-functions for organizing and adopting materials
5.OER: Supporting open licenses.
6.Flow: creating with and for our users

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

We want children from refugees families to make new friends and to feel confident at their new school as fast as possible. There for we support educators and schools with didactical materials, with best practice and with exchange and adoption tools.

What makes your idea stand apart?

1. lernox is open to different sources, subjects and formats.

2. Lernox is a user driven platform - we create unique user experience with strong interactive and gamification elements in order to engage community.

3. With its intuitive interface lernox wants to engage more female educators to use and to create Open Educational Resources.

4.We create highly innovative search experience and user interfaces for smart phones, tablets and computers.
