We would like to organize an idea factory in the form of a hackathon with students and activists in journalism and PR focusing on tools and mechanisms of promoting sustainable development principles in lifestyles of people. Mass media tools are not in proper usage in present time for promoting such an important topic to bigger audience but focusing more promoting unlimited consumption. We see the necessity to educate future journalists and PR workers to focus on socially responsible topics.
preparation in Germany, Poland, Russia and Ukraine; hackathon in Poland; products will be spread in the participating countries and at the MitOst Festival 2016.
The UN has announced goals for 2030 and Year of sustainable living. We believe that information about sustainable lifestyles should be more spread out to ordinary people by mass media. There is lack of understanding, how sustainable development topics could be integrated into every day life, consumption, advertisement and how sustainable lifestyle could be common sense and not an exotic topic. We can start by fuse advertisement and information business with sustainable development activists.
A successful outcome of the cooperation of stakeholders from business, media, PR, environmentalists, activists would be to gain realistic new concepts of advertising sustainable topics and to develop concrete products as advertising films, the idea for an “eco”-app, posters, graphics, campaign-ideas. The difference would be, that participants would have received knowledge in the field of sustainable lifestyle. There would be spreading of information/advertisement within mass media/journals, etc.
We would like to bring 35 selected through open call students/professionals together for the hackathon. Several lectures will give insights into the principles of advertising, journalism and sustainable development. Also, there will be working groups using the peer-to-peer learning (2 days). Participants form working groups and develop ideas and products of promoting sustainable lifestyle (3 days): advertising films, the idea for an “eco”-app, posters, articles, graphics, campaign-ideas in different languages. The products will be disseminated with our media partners in mentioned countries and social networks. Implementation possibilities for ideas will be developed (6 months).

1. Environmental activists and campaigners meet journalists and PR-& advertisement- professionals.

3. Formats hackathon and peer-to-peer-learning make the exchange interesting and problem solutions creative and realistic.
