Idea pitch

We are a non for profit coworking space operating in rural area of Prekmurje, Slovenia. For the past 3 years we have been successfully innovating with programs, contents and initiatives in the field of social entrepreneurship benefiting hundreds of individuals. We have a platform we’d like to scale in Europe: Events that generate community and inspire change; A model for Coworking spaces for rural areas; and an online platform to present individuals and their projects to the rest of the world.

Where will your idea take place?

Murska Sobota, Slovenia

Why does Europe need your idea?

Our civilisation is changing from efficient to effective. How to bring that change and the opportunities that cities enjoy to rural communities? Their small populations make them unattractive as target for citizenship development and investment. As a consequence rural citizens lack of initiative, confidence and opportunities. How to break that cycle of stagnation? We know how, we’d like to scale our impact. Our project is non for profit.

What is your impact?

In a year from now we’d like to maintain and generate cooperation with a network of european organisations that share interest in addressing the challenge presented before. We are targeting public and private initiatives that support empowered citizenship by: creating learning environments, supporting entrepreneurship in a wide area of activities and by connecting their constituents for interchange of value and experience. Our main aim is to develop a sustainable Europe wide network / platform.

How do you get there?

In the project we will: Identify compatible partners throughout Europe; Share with them our experiences, definitions and philosophy in order to set a common ground for cooperation where entrepreneurship is the binding theme; Share the entire platform with the partners for them to use, adapt and serve their members; Provide access to our existing technological tools; Provide content & formats we have currently designed and tested. We will finish the year with an online multimedia display of beneficiary’s testimonials.

Setting up the network of partners and beneficiaries is tactical for creating an audience. The strategy is to inspire cultural change by dissemination of contents, examples to inspire human connectedness.
We look for at least 10 main partners.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

The project’s beneficiaries are individuals in rural areas of the EU, including: Young individuals interested in exploring independent business(*); Owners and founders of small businesses(*); Individuals with difficulties to find a job position; Business(*) owners looking for international connections.
To reach them, we will work with coworking spaces, business accelerators and other organisations promoting entrepreneurship as important stakeholders.
(*)Business or impact organizations

What makes your idea stand apart?

It requires courage to embrace the work of empowering people that have little or nothing to pay back in exchange. Only by identifying others with similar activities or by inspiring others to follow the same path we can connect enough people throughout Europe as to attract attention and other opportunities. We have touched the lives of hundreds of persons through our events and activities with inspiring results. We don’t push, we empower.
