We propose to develop and program a time bank platform for European citizens and Newropeans (newcomers to Europe). It will be a multi sided application to bring people willing and able to offer time and resources to people that require the same. The project is inspired by the idea of matching processes found in several apllications. Tasks, needs, interests an abilities will be matched with each other.
Fostering a (stronger) feeling of solidarity amongst Europeans and Newropeans. Adressing Newropean´s enforced idleness during the asylum and integration process. Activate the large number of willing but reluctant citizens.
Facilitate access to the host society by exchanging time and needs. It is a flexible, low comitment entrypoint for meeting and connecting both Euro- and Newropeans. The fear of contact with strangers will reduce.
The idea with the multi sided platform akin to other matching and shared economy platforms was developed February 2016 during a one day design thinking workshop at the design thinking agency “d.collective” in Berlin. On that day we already conducted numerous interviews with citizens in Berlin and bringing together their multifaceted thought. We plan to use the next couple of months to research what needs, tasks, interests people would be keen to share and exchange.
