Bosnia and Herzegovina
Our goal is to encourage and motivate citizens to actively and passively protect human rights in BiH.Human rights have minimal respect and citizens are not aware of them.It is necessary to gain knowledge of rights that belongs them by birth. We want to teach people to accept change and to recognize their ability to influence their own social destiny. That is currently problem in BiH because of stereotypes and prejudices which are common in society.
The change is reflected in the earning of knowledge by the students. That knowledge students will use in every day life and work.Students are working or will be working in the state administration, judiciary,NGOs,media and politics,so they will spread earned knowledge and make positive changes in the society which is, by the way,our main indicator of success. We must know what human rights are in order to protect them.
The first part of our plan is promoting the school which will include internet,tv and radio promotion and promotional material.Students will submit applications and cover letters, then we will interview them and make selections. The second part will include lectures, workshops and panel discussions which will be held in period of 10 days. Each lecture will containe 2 topics that will be presented to the students by the relevant experts. In the workshops students will discuss about 2 topics„Trial simulations“,„Legal protection in front of the European Court of Human rights“ within 2 days.In the panel discussions students will discuss about 1 topic within 1 day and the topics will be„Why are human rights important“,“Diplomacy of human rights“.The third part will include making the publications.
Target groups will be the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have more than 18 years old and who have legal capacity, with the obligatory respect for national and religious identity of all three nations who are living in BiH. Also, the school will respect gender equality.
This is the first project of it’s kind that will be implemented in the BiH.The school is different from other projects, because we give attention to practical training, not just theory. We will cooperate with judges, lawyers, professors, representatives of international organizations and NGOs setor, and that is a newness because all participants will be directed to the same goal. For social situation in BiH,this will be the first step for breaking the prejudices and stereotypes in the form of school.
