Bosnia and Herzegovina
Imagine a music recording studio where youth from all over BiH can re-make cultural heritage music and typical music of European countries for free, and share it with their families, friends, communities, peers in and out of the country. Imagine that youth learn about other cultures, both through music and workshops "Barriers are on my side" overcome prejudice, become open and tolerant young citizens able to contribute to a healthy, open and diversified Europe.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
The main objective of our project is to help broaden the horizons of young people, both about the diversity within our country and about the values of diversity which Europe today represents. We are a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious country-but due to divisions, our youth knows little about one another, and even less about the cultural diversity of Europe. Our proposed project would be a timely intervention given that our country has just applied for EU membership.
We are aiming to support young people to better understand and appreciate the richness of diversity, cultural, ethnic, religious, both of our own country and that of Europe. Should our project succeed we will have broadened the horizons of young people, who will understand diversity better, and therefore be equipped to overcome stereotypes, prejudice and divisions and cherish the values of diversity. Moreover, should our project be supported, it can last longer than the proposed 6 months.
Prosperis association intends to start up a music recording studio, where young musicians from different parts of BiH could record music free of charge, focusing on music that is the cultural heritage of our country and of European countries. The recorded music would be shared as widely as possible (social media, youth and other web portals, radio stations etc). Also, workshops "Barriers are on my side" would be held to help youth and other interested citizens to overcome prejudice, stereotypes and be the future generation of open and tolerant Europeans.
Our target group are youth in their 20s, as well as their families and local communities. Direct beneficiaries of our project are young musicians, formally educated in music or self-educated. Members of the general public of different categories are the planned audience.
The few music studios in the country are all for-profit, and youth have limited or no opportunities to make music, and learn through music, on a non-profit basis. This would be first such venue for youth to record music, share it with their peer musicians in other countries, promote it through social media and otherwise. Also, the for-profits do not have the learning component nor the element of cultivating diversity.
