Ukraine is a young nation with strong old European roots. There is an urgent need to bring up and demonstrate that our culture, customs and traditions, are one of the oldest in Europe. It is important to reintroduce Ukraine, change existing stereotypes and highlight that it is an interesting part of the European family. The idea of the project is to create a short film,by means of which we’ll be able to introduce to the youth of Ukraine and Europe, one of the oldest European cultures, Polissya culture.
Kyiv, Polissya Region, Ukraine
Today, when the country is making its first steps of its new history,it's extremely important to support young people’s striving for self-identifying themselves as Ukrainians.Equally urgent is the need to disseminate information about the culture and history of Ukraine among the youth of Europe. This will create awareness and understanding of what country actually constitutes, and to change deep-rooted stereotype that Ukraine is just one of many post-Soviet countries.
The project aims at breaking stereotypes of associating Ukrainian Polissya exclusively with the Chernobyl disaster and Ukraine as a whole – with the ongoing revolutions and perception of it only as the former Soviet republic.Among the objectives of the project is to show to European youth the diversity and attractiveness of Ukrainian Polissya, to give them the opportunity to travel across the country, to promote dialogue between young people across the Europe and unite for common interests.
As nowadays the Internet is perhaps the most powerful driving force of modern youth, then the video format is the fastest and most effective tool to reach the target audience. The film will provide an opportunity to document and preserve the unique traditions that unfortunately are on the brink of extinction.Creation of a video clip will enable to tell and get the interest of young people and foreign tourists in traditions of one of the oldest European cultures-Polissya culture.Yet the film will help in translating it to a modern vision, show the evaluation to the young and vibrant state, which Ukraine is today. It is planned to involve young Ukrainian sociologists, historians, culture experts, photographers and filmmakers and youth NGOs in the development of the storyline and creation of the film
The target group is youth of both Ukraine and Europe, foreign tourists, residents of Polissya region.
The project is aimed at changing the attitude to our country, acquaintance of target audience with its realities and history.Exploring the unique centuries-old cultural diversity of Ukraine will not only help to increase the knowledge on the particular stages and pages of formation and development of the country, but also quite naturally lead to the creation of real scientific basis, the modern perception and understanding aimed at uniting the nation and spreading information about country abroad.
