Idea pitch

People fleeing to Europe have a strong drive: to make a better life. This power can help in the process of integration and growth of multikultutral life in Germany and elswhere Europe.
Music has a strong identifying strength and can serve the process of integration.
Young people represent themselves in "their" music and the audience can acknowledge this. Konwing what these newcomers aim to desire can make the europeans more familiar and delete fears of strangeness.

Why does Europe need your idea?

The challange is to give refugees an opportunity to show themselves and to disperse the uncertainties of europeans.

What is your impact?

We can go on with this project in other european countries and let it grow big in public visibility.
People will know about peoples dreams and knowing each other will bring us closer!

How do you get there?

The refugees will be guided to make a song about their wishes, dreams and ideas for the future life. This includes a "writing workshop", a "video workshop" and a "music workshop". Everyone can write in their own language or in transcription, so that others could sing along. In addition to the songs a videocollage is elaborated from photos made by participants on mobiles wich runs in the background and effectively combines the different songs that will be presented.

Who are you doing it for?

The target group is teeangers and adolescents of 15-25 years who have come to germany as refugees. Students for „cultural diversity in musical education“ from Hildesheim will work with them. The audience can be other refugees, the township population and more.

What makes your idea stand apart?

The project team has great intercultural competence through its range of backgrounds and experiences, see above. We have experienced the universal way how art and creativity brings us together. The project can give this community-building experience to others.
