Idea Sketch | Proposal

Idea pitch

For the first time ever the online platform will be developoed, agreed by the experts and 200 NGOs from 5 AA and neighborhood countries on European values, principles and practices of community inclusion and participation on easy read Ukrainian and Russian for persons with intellectual disabilities (ID) to have access and be able to participate in public discussions, distant interactions, interpersonal communication and also to participate in the postcross activities among the countries.

Where will your idea take place?

Kyiv, Ukraine, 5 post-Soviet countries

Why does Europe need your idea?

State disability policies in the ex-Soviet countries remain unchanged and far from European ideas of community inclusion and participation. Typically persons with ID are placed in the boarding homes, rare community based services and human rights initiatives are usually kicked off and supported by NGOs. Persons with ID have no access to info about their human rights and full participation in the society practised in the EU countries, they have limited access to social networks and info exchange

What is your impact?

Our aim is through absorbtion of European principles, values and best practices to reach full inclusion of persons with disabilities in the ex-Soviet countries, provide their access to online information technologies, establish the innovative community based social services, bridge the gap in the disability policies among the participant countries, making it participatory.Besides, the project is aimed at building capacity of 200 NGOs from 5 countries on EU norms of inclusion of persons with ID.

How do you get there?

1. Make a kick-off meeting of 200 NGOs from 5 countries to make working arrangements of the online service and the NGO activities aimed at the support of users with ID involvement.
2. Set up an expert group to creat and support the online pkatform, incl. selection of materials, translation and comment, posting.
3. Monthly skype conferences of the foci NGOs from 5 countries to coordinate activities.
4. Final forum of the platform users with ID to plan cooperation for 5 years after the project.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

Citizens with Intellectual disabilities from AA countries (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia) and the neighborhood countries (Belarus, Azerbaijan) who will get to info on EU values and practices, 200 NGOs enabling to support persons with ID when getting access to European knowledge

What makes your idea stand apart?

The idea is unique for the ex-Soviet countries where people would never ever suggest that persons with intellectual disabilities could ever have anything to do with the internet technologies. It is for the first time that European principles and values will be presented in the easy read Ukrainian and Russian, this format of info presentation has never been used in these languages before.
