We believe that small neighborhoods hide great capabilities and every single citizen can develop the energy and the interest toward a new idea of community able and involved in the management of the Common Goods. Neighborhood Cultural Centers are strategic places to create these new types of participation. We want to empower this role both through the proposal of a formative approach on European experiences and an artistic process of community dance as a practice of real interaction of people.
In suburban districts we face with social disintegration, loss of the sense of community highlighted by the multicultural cohabitation and with a progressive indifference towards civic life. We represent a network of associations collaborating in the management of a public good for stimulating citizens’ capacity to co-operate for creating participated paths and cohesion. This project wants to empower this process through a specific training and an artistic pilot- experience of community dance.
We want to generate a civic humus in order to make the people truly participating and pro-active in the processes of valorization, care and management of Common Goods (like cultural places, parks..).
We will organize a 6 days residential “School of Participation” with European teachers about: management of Common Goods, active citizenship, workshops for the exchanges of European goods practices We will develop with Hepxerimenta (member of our organization) the pilot-project of community dance addressed to the inhabitants of the neighborhood like a way of social action in team with an European artist who works in this sector. The artistic experience will be recorded and shared during the last day of the training. All the videos (lectures, artistic workshop, final dance performance) will be uploaded on a bilingual web platform including extra research materials and a crowdsourced section will be dedicated to the description of good practices analyzed.
We will involve in the training citizenship, our members, civic committees, local authorities, representatives of similar European realities The pilot experience will involve neighborhood inhabitants, artists and commercial realities. The web platform will spread the knowledge at European level about Common Goods and how to build a community thanks to European realities invited as channels of dissemination. It will be kept alive through crowdsourcing and a social strategy.
We believe that the small groups are the real actors for concrete and durable changes because they are really involved in the core of the problems they care about.
In order to push these groups to be the protagonists of social and urban life we choose the community dance as a practice of re-birth of personal creativity able to re-activate human closeness.
