Idea pitch

Lack of funding for schools, teaches, and supplies is the common problem for different countries. We aim to shape collaborative environment for schools, corporate and social sector to tackle this challenge. GoFundEd is the crowdfunding where every teacher from any corner in Europe could submit the project which enhance the quality of education in the classroom and gain financial support from businesses and locals. This is new model of collective impact and teachers-led education development.

Why does Europe need your idea?

The Future of Jobs Report shows that till 2020 we need people with complex problem solving, critical thinking skills etc. How we are going to teach to prevent global unemployment? In Ukraine we have 22% of youth unemployed. This is the consequences of 1) lack of interpersonal and soft skills which are not taught at schools 2) lack of cooperation of educational institutions, businesses and governments 3) ineffective decision-making

What is your impact?

We aim to enable 100 000 teachers to realize projects till 2025. GoFundEd enable teachers to be social innovators within schools. This is the tool to help classrooms in need. We aim to: 1) gather innovators among educators and create the collaborative environment for them and enable businesses to stimulate needed projects; 2) give educators an crowdfunding platform to implement projects which improve schools’ environment; 3) provide real-time data for better decision-making processes.

How do you get there?

1) Teachers’ development. In 2015 we’ve started the educational programs for teachers. The result of the programs are 47 engaged teachers, who realized 30+ projects, which enhance the quality of learning. We plan to scale this program online and offline to raise entrepreneurial spirit in teachers.
2) Build online tool – which would enable teachers to create projects and raise funding, communicate and build trust. We did prototype for testing here:
3) Build collaborative environment – engage businesses to invest in school projects and stimulate projects needed.
4) Gathered real-time data from teachers about classroom needs would show the effectiveness of governance and allocation of financial resources.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

We have 4M school students and 440k teachers in Ukraine. Our target are teachers who are creative, tech savvy and are able to lead the change. Usually teachers are undervalued and underpaid (receiving 3$ per day on average), but we believe that investment in teachers’ development pays off. Our end beneficiaries are school students which would get education of better quality.

What makes your idea stand apart?

We are social business with tested business model which crucially important for sustainability of the project. 2) The entrepreneurial spirit cultivated in teachers is a proven tool of shaping better education (research Entrepreneurship Education, WISE). 3) We believe that also horizontal cross-country collaboration of teachers is the way to network, share and enhance the quality of education on the grassroots level.
