Weberhaus- World of living
We want to develop a youth centre which will be home for people of all colour, religion and origin. The centre will be located at the heart of Europe, close to Karlsruhe at the French-German border. It will consist of a café, an eco- and selfcatering hostel with dorms for at least 50 people, camping areas, a seminar room, urban gardening projects and an office. Our sustainable, intercultural and interreligious living will be example of a harmonious and peaceful life - united in diversity!
The European crisis on social and economic level is present all over the world. The wave of refugees coming in is creating new conflicts, discrimination and racism are growing. There's much need for social and innovative measures to battle the societal challenges in many ways. Especially, in urban and rural areas there's been a lack of awareness raising and education on intercultural and sustainable living. Our idea aims at making a positive change by giving space for dialogue and interaction.
- offering employment to refugees, disabled and unemployed people
- co-work space to exchange ideas, to get creative and to discuss how we can make a positive change in society
- offering trainings, youth exchanges, workcamps, voluntary work, movie screenings, talks etc
raise awareness on sustainable and intercultural living
-being model for integrating marginalized people into the job market
- community support in rural areas (close to KA)
- civic participation at several projects
We are a group of six people aiming for the development of the centre. First, two project managers will prepare the building of the centre with the company Weberhaus, eco-architects and volunteers. The development of the centre will include eco-friendly, simple and new ways of constructing such as upcycling. After the set up of the building, we will start to organize and recruit the staff with 6 core members and further 4 co-workers. Volunteer and workcamp projects will support in finishing the interior and exterior decoration and furnishing.
We are doing it for the society, out of passion and because we want to contribute to a Europe full of peace and community life.
Our project combines many solutions to solve our current societal issues. The centre will contribute to education, European citizenship, it will create new jobs for marginalized and most forgotten people, it will give space to feel home and it will be not dependend on further European funds thanks to the establishment of a new eco-hostel which hasn't been existing in the region yet.
