The route of Europe Endless Express will be kept unknown to the passengers since it is the journey itself that is the train’s destination and the discovery of Europe the goal. Therefore, we only can announce our 3 partners from Amsterdam. We have several more, in total 31 (inter-)national partners, cultural organizations, artists (-collectives), designers, theater- and dancegroeps, musicians and writers along the route in 6 European countries. Advocate Europe can ask for more details.

Where will your idea take place?

Why does Europe need your idea?

Europe is going through turbulent times – national borders have sprung up again to counteract flows of migrants, Europe’s eastern border is under threat from conflict, and the economy is under huge pressure. What constitutes our unity? It seems that in these troubled times Europe’s leaders have almost forgotten that Europe is so much more than just an accumulation of economic and political issues – it is, above all, a cultural union with a shared cultural history, heritage and future.

What is your impact?

Today, when the fear of “others” seems to be increasingly taking hold, not to mention suspicions over the strength of European institutions, it is time to look beyond the clichés. In an environment of openness and freedom, the Europe Endless Express intends to demonstrate to its passengers the sheer power of creativity and connection. Together with creators, thinkers, and audience we will try to understand Europe from a new perspective.

How do you get there?

During the journey the train serves as a canvas that is worked upon using a variety of tools and media: Debates, literature and soundscapes can be listened to via the intercom/ radio; Films and performances are shown in the blackbox-carriages; Poetry and music can be listened to in the panorama-carriage. All 'tools' will interactively question the current state of Europe. Since performances are held both inside and outside the train as it travels through the countryside, crosses borders, and calls at cities, fiction and reality blend together and ideas can be exchanged. Using these interdisciplinary building blocks, Club Interbellum ensures a dramaturgy in which all the elements are interwoven and interconnected through an all-encompassing cross-pollination.

What is your story?

Who are you doing it for?

The train is filled with 500 passengers (age: 20- 70) and 100 creators, thinkers and crewmembers. Along the route we will stop four times, where festivals are programmed in and around the stations with local line-up and audiences. We expect 5000 Europeans to be part of these events and thinktanks. All creative output and conclusions of the EEE-journey will finally be bundled in the 'Borderless Atlas of Europe', which will be spread throughout Europe and given to citizens and politicians.

What makes your idea stand apart?

Europe Endless Express amounts to a continuous interactive performance, a symphony lasting three days and two nights where time, space and movement form the defining factors. A mobile festival and thinktank traveling through Europe, wherein the current state of Europe will be discussed through the eyes of artists, thinkers and European citizens along the way. All contributions and output will be bundled in the Borderless Atlas of Europe, wherein new visions on Europe will be formulated.

Club Interbellum asks your support for the production of three international pop-up festival-programmes located at or nearby the stations the Europe Express passes. Each stop will contain four hours of programming. The financial support of Advocate Europe will be used for international artists and thinkers to collaborate, and to create and accomplish an interactive perfomance on location, where locals and trainpassengers can meet, discuss and dance together.
